my home screen: april 2010 edition

I've always been kind of a minimalist - I don't like a lot of stuff crowding up my screen. true on my computers, and even more so on my droid. here's how it looks today

gorgeous, yes? here's how it came together.

launcher: home++. free in the market, it replaces the factory home screen with a configurable row of icons to access more stuff while looking cooler. you can have up to seven home screens, but I'm ok with just one or two (minimalism, remember?) as seen here, it can hide the status bar, although I usually opt to show it to see my notifications.

via executive assistant, phone, calendar, email, sms, and rss. they finally added a single row option with icons only. there's an ad-supported version, but I thought it was sweet. it can go all the way across, but I like to leave space on the end for one-click access to twitter via my fave twitter client.

the great enabler? google's gesture search. write the first letter on the screen and information appears: applications. contacts. music. bookmarks. something I've learned since installing - the application learns what you like. so the next time you enter a letter, it puts frequent choices at the top. and it's free!

other stuff: up top, the 1x1 weather widget. I used bigger icons to change the gesture search icon to 2x2.

what does your home screen look like?
